    1. Meeting-point: Tiger Sculpture, Downtown Oslo

We will start our walking tour in front of the central train station by the large bronze tiger statue erected in honour of the city's nickname "tiger city". From here, we will take a bus to the Oslo Botanical Gardens.

    2. Oslo botanical gardens, a green haven with a rich cultural history

First, we will admire the historic and beautiful botanical gardens. Walking among the towering trees and stunning flowers, you will understand why this was once a proposed spot to build the royal palace.

    3. Tøyen neighbourhood, where old stereotypes are reimagined

From the botanical gardens, we will stroll through the historic neighbourhood of Tøyen, a charming multicultural part of Oslo situated in an area with a rich history. Here we will explore how Oslo's poor and industrial past has influenced and shaped the modern city.

    4. Grønland, the heart of multicultural Oslo

Grønland is today the most multicultural and diverse part of Oslo and likely also in Norway. We'll stroll through the busy streets and talk about how Grønland has transformed from being the historic waterfront and 'dreadful area of town' to a diverse and exciting melting pot today.

    5. Akrobaten Bro, connecting old and new Oslo

From the hustle and bustle of Grønland, we will cross Akrobaten Bridge. Perhaps more than anywhere else in the city, walking across this bridge shows the rapid growth the city has undergone in the past 50 years. As we're leaving 'old Oslo' behind, the towering Barcode district makes for an excellent backdrop for photos and stories. What was once the city's industrial harbour with exhaust and highways has become Oslo's new cultural, architectural, and financial centre.

    6. Bjørvika, city development the Norwegian way

In this contemporary part of town, we will frolic in the modern cultural and beautiful suburb of Bjørvika. Here we will explore how and why Oslo transformed from an industrial and unnoticeable European city to a beacon of 'Scandinavian cool'. With world-class cultural sights, museums, bars, and cafes, the cityscape in this part of town is teeming with life.

    7. End of Oslo walking tour: Oslo Opera House, more than just a building

Walking from historical Oslo, through its industrial and multicultural past to its glittering and modern current expression, what better place to end our tour than atop the world-famous Oslo Opera House. Nestled between the fjord and the city centre, the Opera house resembles an iceberg sliding into the ocean.

Interestingly, the building itself is also part of Havnepromenaden Oslo, the coastal path that runs along the entire Oslo coastline. From the top, we can see the historic city centre, the modern Barcode buildings, and the beautiful medieval fortress situated on a peninsula in the tranquil Oslo fjord.
